Regular Season Round 18: Meliksah - Adanaspor 84-83

A very interesting game took place in Kayseri. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Adanaspor (9-9) to ninth ranked Meliksah (10-8) 84-83 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Adanaspor won third quarter 25-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Adanaspor outrebounded Meliksah 38-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Guard Sertay Gursu (195-87) notched 25 points to lead the effort and American point guard Leemire Goldwire (182-85, college: Charlotte, agency: Two Points) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Meliksah players scored in double figures. Even 30 points by American guard Jeremy Ingram (190-92, college: N.C.Central) did not help to save the game for Adanaspor. His fellow American import forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Meliksah have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Socar Petkim. Adanaspor at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Meliksah's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Buyukcekmece on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Adanaspor will play against Pertevniyal (#16) and hope to win that game.
