Regular Season Round 17: Darussafaka - TED Kolejliler 91-93

The most exciting game of round 17 in the TBL took place in Istanbul. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Darussafaka (12-5) to twelfth ranked TED Kolejliler (7-10) 93-91 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Darussafaka. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 20-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. TED Kolejliler made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American-FYR Macedonian point guard Marques Green (165-82, college: St.Bonaventure) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 assists. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American Jamon Lukas Gordon (191-84, college: Virginia Tech) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Lithuanian forward John Shurna (204-90, college: Northwestern) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. TED Kolejliler moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Torku Konyaspor and Istanbul BSB. Newly promoted Darussafaka dropped to the third position with five games lost. TED Kolejliler is looking forward to face Usak (#14) on the road in the next round. Darussafaka will play against Turk Telekom (#9) in Ankara and is hoping to win this game.
