An interesting game took place in Ankara, where 4th placed Besiktas (10-7) lost to ninth ranked Turk Telekom (8-9) in a road game 70-79 on Saturday. Turk Telekom made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Turk Telekom outrebounded Besiktas 37-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. Besiktas was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Umit Sonkol (206-82) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Michael Roll (197-87, college: UCLA) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Turk Telekom's coach Ercument Sunter used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Australian-Dutch forward Ryan Broekhoff (200-90, college: Valparaiso) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Scottie Reynolds (188-87, college: Villanova) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Five Turk Telekom and four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Trabzonspor. Besiktas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Turk Telekom will face higher ranked Darussafaka (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Besiktas will play at home against Royal Hali and hope to win that game.
