There was an upset when higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (13-7) lost to fourteenth ranked Finke Baskets (7-13) in Paderborn 61-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Finke Baskets. MLP Academics Heidelberg was better in second period 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Finke Baskets made 7 blocks. American players dominated the game. Guard Thomas Bropleh (196, college: Boise St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Morgan Grim (204-88, college: Utah St.) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Finke Baskets players scored in double figures. Finke Baskets' coach Uli Naechster used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Kelvin Martin (195-89, college: Charleston So.) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Bradley Tinsley (191-89, college: Vanderbilt) added 18 points in the effort for MLP Academics Heidelberg. Finke Baskets moved-up to thirteenth place. MLP Academics Heidelberg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Finke Baskets will face higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against the league's leader s Oliver Baskets (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
