Regular Season Round 17: Univ.Cluj - Timba Timis. 62-71

Bottom-ranked Univ.Cluj (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 71-62 loss to twelfth ranked Timba Timosoara (4-11) in Cluj on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Univ.Cluj won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Serbian power forward Danilo Mijatovic (207-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American guard Jahsha Bluntt (198-84, college: Delaware St.) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Brian Burrell (192-84, college: UTPA) responded with 19 points, 5 assists and 6 steals and forward Alin Borsa (201-90) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Timba Timosoara maintains twelfth place with 4-11 record. Newly promoted Univ.Cluj still closes the standings. Timba Timosoara will meet at home league's second-placed Ploiesti in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Univ.Cluj will play against CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
