Second Stage Round 6: Zalgiris II - Rasai 96-74

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kaunas. Third ranked host Zalgiris II (15-14) smashed 4th ranked Rasai (13-18) 96-74. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris II. Rasai managed to win second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rasai 38-20 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zalgiris II looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Regimantas Miniotas (206-96) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Center Martynas Sajus (207-96) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Valdemaras Savostjanovas (200-84) who recorded 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Darius Marcinkevicius (201-91) added 15 points respectively. Four Rasai players scored in double figures. Zalgiris II have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Rasai lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth position with 18 games lost. Zalgiris II will meet Silute (#5) on the road in the next round. Rasai will have a break next round.
