Regular Season Round 27: P.Zvaigzdes - Siauliai 99-97

The most exciting game of round 27 in the LKL took place in Pasvalys. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Siauliai (10-13) to fifth ranked P.Zvaigzdes (13-10) 99-97 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Siauliai won third quarter 27-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. P.Zvaigzdes forced 20 Siauliai turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Siauliai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American power forward Alex Oriakhi (208-90, college: Connecticut) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Gytis Sirutavicius (195-83) chipped in 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89) who recorded 21 points and guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Five Siauliai players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. P.Zvaigzdes have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 13-10 record. Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. P.Zvaigzdes are looking forward to face league's second-placed Neptunas in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Siauliai will play on the road against the league's leader Zalgiris (#1) in Kaunas and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
