Regular Season Round 21: Alexandria - Satu Mare 83-59

Date: January 31, 2015
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Satu Mare (8-13) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Alexandria (14-7) 83-59. The game was mostly controlled by Alexandria. Satu Mare was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alexandria forced 21 Satu Mare turnovers and had a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American Morgan Stroman (185-91, college: Miami, FL, agency: Merit Management Group) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 18 rebounds. The former international forward Anca Sipos (185-85) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Alexandria's coach Madalin Piperea felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Ramona Tarta (173-89, agency: Interperformances) answered with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Flavia Ferenczi (175-91) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Satu Mare. The victory was the third consecutive win for Alexandria. They moved-up to fifth place. Satu Mare lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Alexandria will play against bottom-ranked Rapid (#14) in Bucuresti in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Satu Mare will play at home against Oradea (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
