Regular Season Round 21: Galati - Cluj Napoca 98-66

Very expected game when 11th ranked Cluj Napoca (5-16) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Galati (13-8) 98-66. The game was mostly controlled by Galati. Cluj Napoca was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Galati forced 26 Cluj Napoca turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Cluj Napoca's players. Cluj Napoca was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American center Chelsey Lee (193-89, college: Rutgers) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. International swingman Romina Filip (174-89) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Galati players scored in double figures. Coach Theodosios Paralikas's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Cristina Gavrila (172-95) answered with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Iulia Raileanu (190-95) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Cluj Napoca. Galati moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Brasov. Cluj Napoca at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Galati will play against league's second-placed CSM Targoviste on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cluj Napoca will play against Brasov (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
