Important game to mention about took place in Izmir. Sixteenth ranked Afyon (5-13) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Gelisim (9-9) 88-86 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-86. Afyon dominated on the defensive end, holding Gelisim to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Alex Gordon (184-85, college: Vanderbilt) who scored 30 points and 9 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) who recorded 30 points and 6 assists and forward Erhan Yetim (204-87, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Five Afyon and four Gelisim players scored in double figures. Afyon moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Pertevniyal. Loser Gelisim keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Afyon will face higher ranked Sakarya BSB (#3) in Sakaraya in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
