Regular Season Round 20: Hamburg - Jena 78-90

Date: February 1, 2015
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eighth ranked Science City Jena (10-10) beat on the road 7th ranked Hamburg (11-9) 90-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Science City Jena. Hamburg was better in fourth quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Science City Jena forced 27 Hamburg turnovers. American point guard David Hicks (183-88, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: LUMANI 10.7) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import guard Brady Morningstar (190-86, college: Kansas, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Canadian swingman Terry Thomas (193-91) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Hamburg. Four Hamburg players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Science City Jena maintains eighth position with 10-10 record. Newly promoted Hamburg keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Science City Jena will face BV Chemnitz 99 (#11) at home in the next round.
