Second Stage Round 7: Vilniaus - Palanga 84-81

Round 7 in NKL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Vilnius where host Vilniaus (10-20) edged league's leader Palanga (16-16) 84-81 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Palanga. Palanga was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 26-14 charge of Vilniaus, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Jermaine Love-Roberts (188-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Ignas Dauksys (197-93) chipped in 28 points and 6 rebounds. Center Adomas Drungilas (203-90) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and forward Povilas Sakinis (199-80) added 24 points respectively for lost side. Four Palanga players scored in double figures. Vilniaus have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Vilniaus maintains sixth place with 10-20 record. Palanga at the other side still keeps top position with 16 games lost. They share it with Zanavykas and Delikatesas. They were replaced at the leadership position by Delikatesas. Palanga will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Vilniaus will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Palanga on the road.
