There was a small surprise when eighteenth ranked Crailsheim Merlins (3-18) defeated on the road 15th ranked TBB Trier (7-14) 82-67 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Crailsheim Merlins. TBB Trier was better in second period 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Garrett Sim (185-90, college: Oregon) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Joshiko Saibou (188-90) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Zimbabwean power forward Vitalis Chikoko (207-91, agency: LUMANI 10.7) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian Marko Lukovic (207-92, agency: Beo Basket) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Crailsheim Merlins maintains eighteenth place with 3-18 record. Loser TBB Trier keeps the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will face higher ranked Walter Tigers (#16) in Tuebingen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
