Regular Season Round 19: I.T.U. - Gediz 71-70

A very interesting game took place in Istanbul. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 11th ranked Gediz (9-10) to twelfth ranked ITU Istanbul (8-11) 71-70 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Gediz took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then ITU Istanbul had a 25-16 second period charge getting the lead and Gediz was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-71. It was a great shooting night for ITU Istanbul especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. American forward Jayme Miller (203-85) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. American forward K'Zell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Serhat Ugur (192-85) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. ITU Istanbul maintains twelfth place with 8-11 record. Newly promoted Gediz keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. ITU Istanbul's next round opponent will be higher ranked Akhisar Bld (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
