Regular Season Round 19: Akhisar Bld - Final Genclik 85-80

Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Final Genclik (7-12) lost on the road to fifth ranked Akhisar Bld (13-6) 85-80 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-18. But Final Genclik won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akhisar Bld made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for American forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds. Point guard Erdem Ilter (188-90, agency: Ali Guney BA) contributed with 16 points and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) answered with 33 points (!!!) (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Damien Kinloch (203-80, college: Tenn Tech) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Final Genclik. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akhisar Bld moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Balikesir. Loser Final Genclik keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Akhisar Bld will face ITU Istanbul (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Final Genclik will play against Istanbul DSI and hope to win that game.
