Regular Season Round 19: Socar Petkim - Gelisim 65-82

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Socar Petkim (10-9) lost at home to ninth ranked Gelisim (10-9) 82-65 on Saturday. Socar Petkim was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-8 charge of Gelisim, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Socar Petkim's 26. Socar Petkim was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 7 rebounds. Erdi Gulaslan contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Gelisim players scored in double figures. American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) answered with 9 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Socar Petkim. Socar Petkim's coach let to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gelisim moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Socar Petkim. Gelisim will face Mamak DSI (#13) in Ankara in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
