Second Stage Round 8: Delikatesas - JAZZ-Diremta 83-82

Seventh-ranked JAZZ-Diremta (5-27) was very close to win a game against first ranked Delikatesas (17-16) in Joniskis on Saturday. Delikatesas managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 25-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Delikatesas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by JAZZ-Diremta helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Sarunas Kulevicius (191-89) saved the victory by scoring 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Nerijus Anglickis (212-90) contributed with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Evaldas Dainys (180-82, college: Cent.Florida CC) replied with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 15 assists and American guard Malcolm Hawkins (196-91, college: Norfolk St.) added 17 points in the effort for JAZZ-Diremta. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Delikatesas maintains first position with 17-16 record. JAZZ-Diremta lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 27 games lost. Delikatesas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. JAZZ-Diremta's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kaunas Zalgiris II.
