Regular Season Round 21: Goettingen - Phoenix Hagen 73-83

Date: February 7, 2015
There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Phoenix Hagen (9-12) beat on the road 9th ranked BG Goettingen (10-11) 83-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Phoenix Hagen. BG Goettingen was better in third quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Phoenix Hagen made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game, while BG Goettingen only scored six points from the stripe. Phoenix Hagen had a 36-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. BG Goettingen was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Point guard David Bell (187-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) stepped up and scored 31 points and 7 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Raymar Morgan (202-88, college: Michigan St.) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Alex Ruoff (198-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. BG Goettingen's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Phoenix Hagen maintains twelfth place with 9-12 record, which they share with Bayreuth. Loser BG Goettingen dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Phoenix Hagen will face higher ranked Artland Dragons (#8) in Quakenbrueck in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
