Very predictable result in Funchal where fourth ranked CAB Madeira (8-6) defeated 9th ranked Galitos-Tley (4-10) 90-75. It looked good early as Galitos-Tley took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CAB Madeira had a 21-16 second period charge getting the lead and Galitos-Tley was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-90. CAB Madeira dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Galitos-Tley's 42. They outrebounded Galitos-Tley 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: Savannah St.) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Tommie Eddie (201-82, college: Mississippi) supported him with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Shuler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by the former international point guard Antonio Tavares (183-75) did not help to save the game for Galitos-Tley. American swingman Brian Clark (198-90, college: Salem St.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Five CAB Madeira and four Galitos-Tley players scored in double figures. CAB Madeira maintains fourth position with 8-6 record. Galitos-Tley at the other side keeps the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. CAB Madeira will play against league's leader Benfica on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
