Regular Season Round 21: Kirchheim - Finke Baskets 76-83

An interesting game took place in Kirchheim where 10th ranked Kirchheim Knights (9-12) were upset on its own court by thirteenth ranked Finke Baskets (8-13) 83-76 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kirchheim Knights won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Canadian point guard Ty Nurse (185-90, college: Texas Tech) who scored 14 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Frederik Henningsen (198-88) chipped in 17 points. Finke Baskets' coach Uli Naechster allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American Benjamin Beran (201-84, college: S.Dakota St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and center Enosch Wolf (216-90, college: Connecticut) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Finke Baskets and five Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. Finke Baskets moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Loser Kirchheim Knights dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Vechta and Baunach. Finke Baskets will meet at home higher ranked Nuernberg (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kirchheim Knights will play against Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
