Regular Season Round 21: Cuxhaven - Gotha 81-80

Important game to mention about took place in Cuxhaven. Fifteenth ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (5-16) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 4th placed Oettinger Rockets Gotha (13-8) 81-80 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-16. But Oettinger Rockets Gotha won second period 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cuxhaven BasCats forced 20 Oettinger Rockets Gotha turnovers. American guard Brandon Johnson (183-86, college: San Diego, agency: Haylett Sports) nailed 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winning side and Bill Borekambi (199-92, college: Sequoias CC) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds. American center Will Reinke (208-90, college: Oklah.Christian) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Oettinger Rockets Gotha in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cuxhaven BasCats maintains fifteenth place with 5-16 record. Oettinger Rockets Gotha at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Heidelberg. Cuxhaven BasCats will play against higher ranked Hamburg (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play against Kirchheim Knights and hopes to get back on the winning track.
