Regular Season Round 19: Itzehoe - Bochum 67-85

Rather predictable result when third ranked AstroStars (11-8) beat on the road 7th ranked Itzehoe (9-10) 85-67 on Saturday. AstroStars dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Itzehoe's 32. AstroStars forced 21 Itzehoe turnovers. American guard Jimmy Sherburne (191-91, college: Princeton) fired 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners. His fellow American import Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Sherburne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four AstroStars players scored in double figures. American swingman Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Adrian Breitlauch (193-93) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AstroStars maintains third place in Group North with 11-8 record having three points less than leader Iserlohn. Newly promoted Itzehoe dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. AstroStars will face Oldenburg (#4) at home in the next round. Itzehoe will play against RSV Eintracht (#12) and hope to win that game.
