Very expected game when 12th ranked Timba Timosoara (4-12) was smashed by second ranked Ploiesti (13-3) in Timisoara 77-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ploiesti. Timba Timosoara was better in third quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for the former international center Catalin Burlacu (210-77, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Chris Cooper (205-90, college: ODU) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Ploiesti players scored in double figures. Coach Vladimir Arnautovic's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Serbian power forward Ivan Miskovic (203-84, college: Alaska-Fairb., agency: Duran International) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) added 10 points in the effort for Timba Timosoara. Ploiesti have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 13-3 record behind leader Steaua CSM. Loser Timba Timosoara keeps the twelfth place with 12 games lost. Ploiesti will face CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Timba Timosoara will play against Oradea (#4) and hope to win that game.
