Regular Season Round 17: Chernomorets - Rilski 64-84

The game in Burgas supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Rilski (10-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Chernomorets (2-13). Rilski did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 84-64. It looked good early as Chernomorets took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rilski had a 21-16 second period charge getting the lead and Chernomorets was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-84. They outrebounded Chernomorets 49-31 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (196-85) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian center Dejan Bjelic (209-90) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Dimitar Roshmanov (188-85) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Rilski. They maintain fourth place with 10-5 record. Chernomorets at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Rilski's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Balkan in Botevgrad and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chernomorets will play on the road against Beroe (#6) in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
