Regular Season Round 18: BC Timisoara - Gaz Metan 87-81

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked BC Timisoara (10-7) beat at home 10th ranked Gaz Metan (7-10) 87-81 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gaz Metan was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-17 charge of BC Timisoara, which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for the former international forward Bogdan Popescu (202-78, college: Alaska-Fairb.) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 24 points and 6 assists for the winners. Belarusian-Russian Aliaksandr Pustahvar (202-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and Serbian-Bosnian power forward Marko Djurkovic (206-87, agency: BeoExcell) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gaz Metan. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BC Timisoara moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Oradea and Pitesti. Loser Gaz Metan keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. BC Timisoara will face Craiova (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
