An interesting game for Veilchen (12-4) which hosted in Goettingen one of their biggest challengers Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (11-5). First ranked Veilchen had an easy win 74-50. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel. It was a key game for the top position in North. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 49-18 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by American guard Monique Smalls (168-91, college: Texas Tech) who scored that evening 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Nicole Jones (188-89, college: Drexel) supported her with 12 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Even a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds by Polish forward Klaudia Grudzien (184-90) did not help to save the game for Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel. American point guard Bjonee Reaves (168-90, college: Cincinnati, agency: LBM Management) added 13 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Veilchen have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position in North with 12-4 record, which they share with Osnabruck. Loser Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Opladen. Veilchen will meet Lichterfelde (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel will play against Hannover and hope to secure a win.
