Very important is a road loss of third ranked Istanbul Universitesi (11-4) against fifth ranked Adana ASKI (10-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Istanbul Universitesi was defeated by Adana ASKI in Mersin 85-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Istanbul Universitesi. It looked good early as Istanbul Universitesi took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Adana ASKI had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Istanbul Universitesi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-85. Adana ASKI made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 22 rebounds. Her fellow American import point guard Briann January (173-87, college: Arizona St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Lithuanian guard Kamile Nacickaite (181-89, college: Drexel) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for Istanbul Universitesi in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Adana ASKI. They maintain fifth place with 10-5 record. Istanbul Universitesi at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Fenerbahce. Adana ASKI will play against bottom-ranked Osmaniye (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Universitesi will play against Ormanspor (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
