Regular Season Round 23: Utena - H-Sirenos 79-51

Leader Utena delivered the twenty second win on Friday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (10-13) 79-51. The game without a history. Utena led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas' 24. Utena forced 19 Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international center Kristina Alminaite (205-90) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). International power forward Egle Siksniute (198-91) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds. Utena's coach Alfredas Vainauskas felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) produced 4 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and point guard Rasa Knyzaite (176-98) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Utena maintains first place with 22-1 record. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas at the other side keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Utena are looking forward to face Aistes-LSU (#3) in Kaunas in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas will play on the road against Jaunieji Talentai in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
