Regular Season Round 27: Khimik - DniproAzot 76-53

Superleague top team - Khimik (23-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed tenth ranked DniproAzot (5-15) in Yuzhny 76-53. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. DniproAzot was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding DniproAzot to just 5 points in first quarter. Khimik forced 24 DniproAzot turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by DniproAzot's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Khimik made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Ramone Moore (193-89, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) helped adding 11 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Volodymyr Egorov (200-91) with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Stanislav Ovdeyenko (191-84) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the twenty third consecutive win for Khimik. They maintain first place with 23-0 record. Loser DniproAzot keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Khimik will have a break next round. DniproAzot will play at home against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) and hope to win that game.
