Regular Season Round 18: Rhein MB - Halle 52-66

Very expected game when 10th ranked Rhein Main Baskets (4-14) lost to fifth ranked SV Halle Lions (11-8) in Langen 52-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SV Halle Lions. Rhein Main Baskets managed to win third quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SV Halle Lions made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. SV Halle Lions outrebounded Rhein Main Baskets 41-29 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Jasmine James (175-91, college: Georgia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) notched 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import swingman Tiffany Porter-Talbert (177-84, college: W.Kentucky) supported her with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by American Alexandra Chili (183-90, college: Muhlenberg) did not help to save the game for Rhein Main Baskets. Power forward Francis Pieczynski (186-89) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 8 blocks. SV Halle Lions have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 11-8 record. Loser Rhein Main Baskets keep the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Oberhausen. SV Halle Lions will meet at home BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#8) in the next round. Rhein Main Baskets will play against ChemCats Chemnitz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
