Regular Season Round 20: Final Genclik - Istanbul DSI 91-89

Seventeenth-ranked Istanbul DSI (4-16) gave a tough game to fourteenth ranked Final Genclik (8-12) in Bursa on Saturday. Final Genclik managed to secure only two-point victory 91-89. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-19. But Istanbul DSI won third quarter 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Istanbul DSI 37-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. Final Genclik looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Damien Kinloch (203-80, college: Tenn Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Serkan Ozver (206-90, agency: 1x1 Sports) who added 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Surinamese-Dutch guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with 21 points and naturalized Bulgarian forward Musa Gunes (200-85) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Final Genclik and five Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Final Genclik moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with I.T.U. Istanbul DSI lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 16 games lost. Final Genclik will face higher ranked Adanaspor (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Istanbul DSI will play against Akhisar Bld (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
