Regular Season Round 19: Trabzonspor - Besiktas 98-75
Date: February 14, 2015
There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Trabzonspor (9-10) smashed at home 6th ranked Besiktas (10-9) 98-75 on Saturday. The game without a history. Trabzonspor led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Trabzonspor outrebounded Besiktas 36-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Croatian-Bosnian center Andrija Stipanovic (209-86, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Trabzonspor players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward JaJuan Johnson (208-89, college: Purdue) responded with 7 points and 5 rebounds and Australian-Dutch forward Ryan Broekhoff (200-90, college: Valparaiso) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Trabzonspor moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Turk Telekom and Istanbul BSB. Besiktas lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Trabzonspor will face Turk Telekom (#9) in Ankara in the next round.
