Regular Season Round 15: Alges - Illiabum 65-54

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Alges (7-8) beat at home 10th ranked Illiabum (4-11) 65-54. It was a good game for the former international forward Joao Santos (204-79, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with 16 points. American forward Darren Townes (201-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Stephen Nwaukoni (203-91, college: Hofstra) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Angolan forward Sergio Correia (198-85) added 11 points in the effort for Illiabum. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Alges. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Oliveirense and Lusitania. Illiabum lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Alges will play against higher ranked Barcelos (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Illiabum will play against CAB Madeira (#4) in Funchal and hopes to get back on the winning track.
