Regular Season Round 22: Fraport SKY - Bayreuth 90-89
Date: February 14, 2015
A very interesting game took place in Frankfurt. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 13th ranked BBC Bayreuth (9-13) to tenth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (11-11) 90-89 on Saturday evening. Deutsche Bank Skyliners made 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by BBC Bayreuth helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Justin Cobbs (191-91, college: California) notched 15 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and international center Johannes Voigtmann (210-92) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. Deutsche Bank Skyliners' coach Gordon Herbert allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Je'Kel Foster (194-83, college: Ohio St., agency: KMG Sports Management) did not help to save the game for BBC Bayreuth. His fellow American import forward Javon McCrea (201-92, college: Buffalo) added 18 points for lost side. Deutsche Bank Skyliners moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Braunschweig and Art.Dragons. BBC Bayreuth at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Deutsche Bank Skyliners' next round opponent will be higher ranked EWE Baskets (#6) in Oldenburg and it may be quite challenging game. BBC Bayreuth will play at home against Bayern Muenchen (#3) and hope to win that game.
