Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked BG Karlsruhe (10-9) defeated at home 12th ranked Saarlouis (4-15) 88-72 on Saturday. BG Karlsruhe made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Australian-British forward Paul Brotherson (198-89, college: Metro St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. Rouven Roessler (198-80) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Naturalized Bosnian center Hari Mujkanovic (204-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Ricky Easterling (188-83, college: Bridgewater) added 19 points and 6 assists in the effort for Saarlouis. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. BG Karlsruhe maintains sixth position in Group South with 10-9 record. Newly promoted Saarlouis keep the twelfth place with 15 games lost. BG Karlsruhe will face Fraport Skyliners II (#7) in Frankfurt in the next round. Saarlouis will play at home against Licher Basket (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
