Regular Season Round 15: Ovarense - Sampaense 83-66

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Ovarense (8-7) defeated at home bottom-ranked Sampaense (4-11) 83-66. It looked good early as Sampaense took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ovarense had a 21-13 second period charge getting the lead and Sampaense was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-83. They outrebounded Sampaense 35-21 including a 21-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international forward Miguel Miranda (205-78) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. The former international point guard Jaime Silva (187-80) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Ovarense players scored in double figures. American forward Javarris Barnett (200-89, college: Charlotte, agency: Dynamics Global Management) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Sampaense. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ovarense. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with CAB Madeira. Sampaense at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ovarense will play against Maia Basket (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sampaense will play against Oliveirense and hopes to get back on the winning track.
