Regular Season Round 20: Speyer - Iserlohn 68-61
Date: February 14, 2015
Very important is a road loss of first ranked Iserlohn (15-4) against eleventh ranked Speyer (6-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Iserlohn was defeated by Speyer in a tough game in Speyer 61-68. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Speyer made 8 blocks. The winners were led by American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) who scored that evening 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Marcus Smallwood (200-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: R.H.Consultancy) supported him with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Smallwood is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds by British forward Orlan Jackman (201-88, college: Oklahoma City) did not help to save the game for Iserlohn. American center Matt Kavanaugh (206-91, college: Dayton) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Iserlohn's coach Matthias Grothe tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Speyer maintains eleventh position in Group South with 6-13 record. Newly promoted Iserlohn still keeps top place with four games lost. Speyer will meet league's second-placed Weissenhorn Youngstars on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Iserlohn will play against White Wings and hope to secure a win.
