Regular Season Round 16: AD Vagos - Benfica 66-50

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Benfica (8-8) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked AD Vagos (10-6) 66-50. The game was mostly controlled by AD Vagos. Benfica was better in fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Benfica to just 7 points in first quarter. AD Vagos dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Benfica's 28. They outrebounded Benfica 37-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for the former international center Ana Teixeira (185-79) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Sara Ressurreicao (167-93) contributed with 17 points and 4 steals for the winners. Center Brigitta Cismasiu (190-92) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and swingman Joana Ramos (170-92) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Benfica. Benfica's coach Andre Cardoso rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. AD Vagos have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Boa Viagem. Newly promoted Benfica keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. AD Vagos' next round opponent will be league's leader CAB Madeira in Funchal and it will be for sure the game of the week.
