Regular Season Round 18: Marburg - Oberhausen 69-53

Date: February 14, 2015
Rather predictable result when eighth ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (7-11) won against at home 11th ranked Oberhausen (4-14) 69-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by BC Pharmaserv Marburg. Oberhausen managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Pharmaserv Marburg forced 20 Oberhausen turnovers and outrebounded them 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The former international center Lisa Koop (197-85, college: Winthrop) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and international forward Finja Schaake (179-92) supported her with 17 points. Four BC Pharmaserv Marburg players scored in double figures. Even 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by the former international point guard Lea Mersch (170-87) did not help to save the game for Oberhausen. American Amber Stokes (178-90, college: Ohio St.) added 16 points and 5 steals. BC Pharmaserv Marburg maintains eighth position with 7-11 record. Oberhausen lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Rhein MB. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will meet higher ranked SV Halle Lions (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Oberhausen will play against the league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
