Not a big story in a game in Izmir where 13th ranked Mamak DSI (7-13) was defeated by seventh ranked Gelisim (11-9) 88-80 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mamak DSI won third quarter 29-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gelisim dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mamak DSI's 28. They outrebounded Mamak DSI 37-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) who added 21 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) responded with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Mustafa Bakir Gorur (204-88, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 16 points. Gelisim maintains seventh position with 11-9 record, which they share with Yesilgiresun. Loser Mamak DSI dropped to the fourteenth place with 13 games lost. Gelisim will face Gediz (#11) on the road in the next round. Mamak DSI will play against Sakarya BSB and hope to win that game.
