Very predictable result in Angra Heroismo where fourth ranked Boa Viagem (10-6) smashed 10th ranked Academico FC (3-13) 75-51. It looked good early as Academico FC took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Boa Viagem had a 27-7 second period charge getting the lead and Academico FC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 51-75. Boa Viagem dominated on the defensive end, holding Academico FC to just 6 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Academico FC's 24. They outrebounded Academico FC 50-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Myneshia McKenzie (183, college: Rider) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Center Vitoria Pacheco (179-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Four Boa Viagem players scored in double figures. Coach Roberto Simoes's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Ana Paula Silva (168-88) replied with 13 points and forward Ana Tenreiro (-82) added 12 points in the effort for Academico FC. Boa Viagem moved-up to third place, which they share with AD Vagos. Academico FC lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Boa Viagem's next round opponent will be Lousada (#9) at home where they are favorite. Academico FC will play against Uniao Sportiva in Ponta Delgada and hope to win that game.
