Regular Season Round 22: ALBA - EWE Baskets 83-89

Top ranked ALBA Berlin (19-3) recorded its third loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked EWE Baskets (12-9) 89-83. They made 28-of-34 charity shots (82.4 percent) during the game. Strangely ALBA Berlin outrebounded EWE Baskets 42-29 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. ALBA Berlin was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). Serbian power forward Nemanja Aleksandrov (210-87) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Alex Renfroe (190-86, college: Belmont, agency: Beo Basket) replied with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import point guard Clifford Hammonds (191-85, college: Clemson) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for ALBA Berlin. Five EWE Baskets and four ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. EWE Baskets maintains sixth position with 12-9 record. ALBA Berlin at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. They share the position with Brose Bask.. EWE Baskets will play against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#7) in Frankfurt in the next round. ALBA Berlin will play on the road against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
