The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Benfica B's (5-8) road loss to fifth ranked Terceira (8-6) 70-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Terceira. Benfica B managed to win second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Terceira dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Benfica B's 28. American Matt Devine (201-91, college: Westfield St.) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Guard Luis Felipe Tomassi (175) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists. Four Terceira players scored in double figures. Slovenian guard Aljaz Slutej (188-96) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Sergio Silva (193-96) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Benfica B's coach Goran Nogic rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Terceira moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Academia. Loser Benfica B dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Terceira will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Benfica B will play against Ginasio (#3) and hope to secure a win.
