Regular Season Round 22: Horsholm - Vaerlose 95-78

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Horsholm and 8th ranked Vaerlose had identical 6-15 record. This time Horsholm used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Vaerlose 95-78. The game was mostly controlled by Horsholm. Vaerlose was better in third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Horsholm dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Vaerlose's 28. They outrebounded Vaerlose 35-23 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Rob Fields (185-88, college: Catawba) notched 23 points to lead the effort and American-Dominican center Alejandro Rodriguez (206-88, college: Iona, agency: Duran International) supported him with 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Fields is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Horsholm players scored in double figures. Horsholm's coach Miguel Angel Hoyo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds by American forward Drew Maynard (200-89, college: Rochester, MI) did not help to save the game for Vaerlose. Swingman David Knudsen (193-94) added 16 points for lost side. Horsholm (7-15) moved-up to eighth place. Vaerlose at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 16 games lost. Horsholm's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Aalborg (#10) on the road. Vaerlose will play against Randers and hope to win that game.
