Twelfth-ranked Timba Timosoara (4-14) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked CSU Sibiu (9-9) in Timisoara on Friday. The visitors from Sibiu managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-14. But Timba Timosoara won second period 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSU Sibiu made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game, while Timba Timosoara only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Timba Timosoara 42-23 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center Christopher Lee (206-84, college: S.Carolina St.) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds. Serbian swingman Milos Bojovic (198-81, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 28 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Serbian power forward Danilo Mijatovic (207-83) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian guard Pavle Reljic (194-93) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. CSU Sibiu maintains eighth position with 9-9 record, which they share with Targu Mures. Timba Timosoara lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 14 games lost. CSU Sibiu will face higher ranked CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Timba Timosoara will play against the league's leader Steaua CSM (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
