Regular Season Round 20: Steaua CSM - U-Banca TR 82-83

Top ranked Steaua CSM (15-3) recorded its third loss in Bucuresti on Friday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked U-Banca TR (11-7) 83-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Steaua CSM. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Steaua CSM won fourth quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. U-Banca TR forced 20 Steaua CSM turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Sean Barnette (197-86, college: Wingate) who scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Catalin Baciu (213-88, college: Clemson) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. U-Banca TR's coach Dorin Pintea used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and Croatian guard Pankracije Barac (196-81, agency: Court Side) added 22 points and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. U-Banca TR moved-up to third place. Steaua CSM at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. U-Banca TR are looking forward to face league's second-placed Ploiesti on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Steaua CSM will play against Timba Timosoara and is hoping to win this game.
