Second Stage Round 10: Zanavykas - Perlas-MRU 85-78

Top ranked Perlas-MRU (25-8) recorded its eighth loss in Sakiai. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Zanavykas (17-17) 85-78. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Perlas-MRU won third quarter 29-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zanavykas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Paulius Beliavicius (194-88) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 assists. Guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Zanavykas' coach Edas Nickus allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Antanas Udras (203-92) replied with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Tomas Cerneckis (191-88) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zanavykas moved-up to second place, which they share with Zalgiris II and Palanga. Perlas-MRU at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. Zanavykas will play against Suduva-Mantinga (#3) in Marijampole in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Perlas-MRU will have a break next round.
