Regular Season Round 25: Satu Mare - Rapid 65-41

Very expected game when 14th ranked Rapid (1-24) was crushed on the road by ninth ranked Satu Mare (10-15) 65-41. The game was mostly controlled by Satu Mare. Rapid was better in third quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rapid to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Satu Mare dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Rapid's 20. They outrebounded Rapid 45-16 including a 30-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American center Kelsey Simon (188-92, college: Miami, OH) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Center Luminita Manta (192-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Satu Mare players scored in double figures. Guard Elena Constantin (167-86) answered with 14 points and forward Daniela Bucica (179-86) added 11 points in the effort for Rapid. Satu Mare maintains ninth place with 10-15 record. Rapid lost their twenty third game in a row. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Satu Mare's next round opponent will be Targu Mures (#10) on the road. Rapid will play against the league's leader Sf.Gheorghe (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
