Second Stage Round 11: Perlas-MRU - Ezerunas-Karys 77-86

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Perlas-MRU (25-9) in Vilnius on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Ezerunas-Karys (22-11) 86-77. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Perlas-MRU trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 20-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 77-86 at the end of the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ezerunas-Karys made 7 blocks. Deividas Kumelis (188-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 assists. Swingman Gintautas Matulis (195-86) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Ezerunas-Karys and four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Ezerunas-Karys moved-up to second place. Perlas-MRU at the other side still keeps top position with nine games lost. Ezerunas-Karys are looking forward to face Trakai (#4) on the road in the next round. Perlas-MRU will play against Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
