Rather predictable result in Akdeniz where fourteenth ranked Mamak DSI (8-14) beat bottom-ranked Mersin (4-18) 83-76. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-22. But Mersin won second period 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mamak DSI made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) notched 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international swingman Rifat Murat Kaya (194-84, agency: 1x1 Sports) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by guard Ihsan Yalcin Azizmahmutogullari (188-82) did not help to save the game for Mersin. American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for lost side. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mamak DSI moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with I.T.U. Mersin at the other side stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Mamak DSI's next round opponent will be higher ranked Meliksah (#6) in Kayseri and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mersin will play on the road against Gediz (#11) and hope to win that game.
